The Rings

In the mid 22nd century a quantum black hole was discovered acting as a shepherd to one of the minor rings. A research outpost was rapidly built to study this unique find. This is the Geodesic Technologies High Curvature Facility (Geodesic Technologies is a research division of Soyuz-Mikoyan).

Besides the HCF there are many ice mining operations in the rings. The mining vessels, providing water for the habitats of the Belt, are almost completely automated, requiring only a small crew to oversee operations.
