Biotechnology

Biotechnology is the modification and exploitation of biological systems. For example, biotech includes the geneering of animals to produce useful proteins in their milk.

Biotech is ubiquitous. Street-lighting is efficiently provided by geneered glowtrees. Herds of animals produce antibodies, hormones and enzymes. Plants are geneered to produce useful drugs. Organs are cloned in suspension. Meats are cultured in vats. Most of these processes are difficult to notice: biotech is a 'low-profile' technology, but one of great importance.
